基礎情報
根茎は径3–5 mm、扁平。個体は叢生する。葉は長さ70 cmに達し、5–7本の脈があり、葉鞘が葉の枯死した後まで残る。花茎は1 mに達し、直立する。花序は長さ3–4 cm、花被はなく、雄蕊・雌蕊が6–12対つく。種子は長さ3.5 mm、卵球形。多年草。水深1–20 mの内湾の海底の砂泥に生育。花期は2–5月。北海道～本州（太平洋側は宮城県以北、日本海側は島根県以北）、朝鮮半島・中国（北部）に分布。
